DescriptionI kept missing out on Olivier Vatine's convention appearances until this year, when I finally managed to catch up with him—twice in two weeks! First in Como, then again in Basel. I had admired his beautiful renditions of Death and Delirium before, but I'd never seen Morpheus drawn in his distinctive style. I'd really wanted to see his take on the character, and now that I have, I can only wish he'd draw Morpheus more often! The rich deep blues, the luminous moon and the mythic looking tree arching behind Morpheus create a wonderfully dreamlike atmosphere that fits the essence of the Dream Lord perfectly. I love how the character seems to emerge from the misty clouds below, as if walking the boundary between realms. It's fantastic to see artist's signature style—which I've appreciated for years—translate the character so perfectly. Now I just hope that I run into the artist again at some point, because now I have another idea… 😁 Social/Sharing |

True, and the palette was entirely the artist's choice! =)

I love the halo! Funny enough I've never actually asked for a halo but many artists who have illustrated Morpheus for me, have given him some kind of halo: the moon, the sun, his hair….
