DescriptionStarlin's run on Warlock was an acquired taste for me. I was first exposed to the saga of Magus and the Universal Church of Truth when I was 10 or so and it was too much. Over time I have come to appreciate the complexities and nuances of the story. This half splash is a key moment in the fight of Warlock against his evil double, the Magus. Amazing storytelling: classic fight half splash, beautiful panel with spotlight on the dramatis personae and Warlock beginning to crumble in the last panel. Somebody said to me the page also features one of the best lines in the storyline: "and, to Pip, if I ever see your face again, I'll step on it!". Beautiful inks by Leialoha. Huge thnks to the seller, I was lucky he was going after another piece so that I could convince him to let this one go. And honourable mention to my good friend Alessandro, who helped me understand the depth and significance of this page. Social/Sharing |

The defeat and setback of the heroes from the classic "Premiere" issue where it will lead to an improbable alliance down the road! Leialoha over Starlin is pretty classic space Marvel epic!

The Warlock saga is something extremely unique and particular in the comics panorama and deals with eternal themes that always seem more current than ever in the eyes of the reader.
I also think that issue 9 is a peak within this run for many reasons.
Well done, Carlo!!

Starlin has "something" that mades him very special as artist. He is able to give to his pages a kind of drama than anyone else can achieve like him. There is an intrinsic beauty in his art. This page is a perfect example of it. Amazing inks by the way.

Absolutely stunning page from Starlin's magnum opus Warlock saga! Has all the players-Warlock Pip, Gamora and the Magus. Leialoha's inks only enhance the page further. A true grail in every sense of the word.

Starlin's Magus Saga was parts Shakespearean tragedy, Moorcockian fantasy and 70s Marvel offbeat cosmic superhero melodrama that blew more than a few twelve-year-old minds back in the day. And, wow, what a great page with great, dynamic art, great characters, and one of the key beats of the story. Cheers!

An explosive opening panel, and a page that has so many elements that a fan of the run would want to see. This is very special indeed. A nice bit of story or dialogue always helps, and yes, the 'Pip' line is glorious.

This is a quintessential Starlin page. This title was an acquired taste for me as well but once you got it, there was no understating Starlin's brilliance. A magnificent page! Many congrats, Carlo!

I could write a whole page of compliments for this one, but they wouldn’t count, since I’m biased: I have two pages from the following issue in my collection! :-)
