DescriptionAgain, here is another one that never got posted to CAF. I think my plan was to post it in October last year in celebration of the spooky season and then forgot…then remembered and had the same idea…so here we are in that spooky season again! For this one, my first commissioned Manix piece, my commission prompt was a no brainer (or I guess more accurately, an abnormal brainer), Frankenstein’s Monster. Of course the brilliance of Manix shines here in so many ways. Right off the bat, the muted & minimal color palette is striking! Perhaps my favorite thing about this piece is that Manix cut to the core of the character and showed him for what he truly is, an insecure and frightened child. The innocence is on full display and he drew him in a fetal like position, surrounded by images of the detailed lab equipment & lightning that brought him to life! Manix could’ve leaned into the obvious, that of a powerful and horrifically violent creature…only he didn’t. He gave me this. Once I saw this in person at OAX and the true brilliance of Manix clicked for me, I immediately asked for another…my Planet of the Apes piece that I’ve already shared here. I simply cannot recommend letting Manix be Manix enough if you get the opportunity to commission him, you won’t be disappointed with the outcome! Social/Sharing |

aw, poor Monster. Manix's style makes me feel for him even more than I usually do! Love this one year late but still very appropriate for spooky season commission (I need to get on that myself and share some spooky stuff, also slipped my mind damn!). congrats!

Thanks man!! Never too late to post a Manix, but it sure does feel sweeter sharing it during a seasonally appropriate time!
Yeah, this one really does get you feeling quite sympathetic for the Monster. Quite emotive indeed!

Many can put together the elements, but Manix also puts a soul in the piece.

The patented Manix doohickeys are great and always pleasure to see. Frankie IS quite child-like here, isn't he?

Awesome piece! Electric even (ha)! I love the energy and mood Manix is always able to convey with the eyes. Great one Carl!

As you noted, Manix leaned away from the villainous depiction of Frankensteins monster and instead chose to focus more on the vulnerability of the poor creature shown amongst the cold mechanics representing what could be considered the "true monster" of the story, man's incurable ambition to play god. A fascinating look into one of the greatest works of literature by one of the most unique talents of a generation. Congrats!
