Description

A good friend gave me a heads-up that Greg Hildebrandt preliminary pieces were available at Baltimore Comic Con—and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It was tough narrowing it down, but I finally chose this striking scene, a perfect example of Greg’s dynamic approach to cover composition.

This piece may be a preliminary study for his Captain America 75th Anniversary painting, and it captures the energy and motion that define so much of his work.

Greg Hildebrandt is a true legend in the world of comic and fantasy art, and I’m thrilled to have one of his prelims as part of my collection.

Great piece! The action that underlies the painted works were carefully chosen and for impact. If it works to communicate that in pencil form like this, it would work many times greater when in color.
