Description

It thrills me to no end to add a Ron Frenz/ John Romita, Sr. page of Spider-Man art to my collection. The visual appeals of this piece are multiple; Ron Frenz layouts, John Romita, Sr. finished pencils and inks, Spider-Man, Kraven, Captain George Stacy, Harry Osborn and a tiny image of Gwen in the 2nd panel. As well, this page shows the exact moment George Stacy realizes that Peter Parker is Spider-Man when Spidey repeats something Pete said earlier in the book! (See additional images). A great Spidey page by 2 of the greatest Spider-Man artists in comics!

Just great polish from the Romita Sr inks that makes it look like this came from the 70's era. Under his art direction, he'd often worked as inker to enrich the look to what we now coin as the Marvel house style. Spidey, Captain Stacy, Kraven, and Harry are all familar faces that bring warm nostalgia from Frenz and Romita.

With Frenz's Silver/Bonze age approach to classic drawing, he and Romita always combined to make for a great looking team. Romita had begun feathering differently by this point, to keep up with the more modernized approach coming from the Image stable of artists, but thankfully he only mixed it in while still keeping his traditional look.
