DescriptionIn early 1982, I got a wild hair up my arse and had a The Art of John Byrne, Vol. 1 overload. I must’ve freebased too much Byrne, so on a rainy night in January of 1982, I pulled out an art pad and freehanded four of the drawings in there, gaining some confidence with each piece. One of them was the teeny tiny sketch of Galactus on page 6. Though the image was too small, I gave it a whirl anyways. I ended up liking my pencils, so I added inks and still have that art today. Which brings us current, it’s kinda too late to get any Destroyer of Worlds pages by Byrne as all of them command quite a premium! Then, I lucked upon this commission from 2009, which amazingly echoes the page I did that night—and now I’m good!Art from 2009 - 8.5x11. Social/Sharing |

Well, your own version captures a lot of Byrne-isms, so you can be pretty pleased about both those sketches/commissions. Congrats!

Always a good day when you can add an original you recreated in your youth!

Once you get the fever for Byrne, it doesn't let up! Galactus is all shined up like he's ready to be a witness for Reed's trial for saving him.

So much Byrne goodness in your gallery. I've always loved the way John drew Galactus and this is great depiction.
