DescriptionInterior page from Spawn #19 by Greg Capullo, early in his run on the title. This page is a great example of Capullo’s developing visual language on Spawn—strong blacks, cinematic panel pacing, and that unmistakable sense of motion that would later define his work. What makes this one especially interesting is seeing the full progression: the original black-and-white art alongside the production color proof used for printing. It’s always fascinating to compare how the final color choices enhance the mood and depth without overpowering the linework. A grounded, story-driven page rather than a splash, but one that captures the gritty street-level energy of early Spawn and Capullo’s growing confidence as a storyteller. Social/Sharing |

You can see the influence of Miller and McFarlane on Greg
Capullo on this page. The gun to the head and the eyeball closeup have classic crime noir intensity.
