Description

The great Dave Johnson was on fire on his covers for detective comics in the early 2000's . This cover to Batman Evolution tpb is a compelling example of the artist's work showcasing his bold inventive designs. This era of his work, often paired with the bold graphic design of Chip Kidd, definitely contributed to making the Batman series one of the most well-designed comics on the shelves at the time. The art has as a striking, "propaganda poster-style" aesthetic that effectively uses negative space and strong composition. The text in Chinese is "您好嗎" (Nín hǎo ma). It translates to "How are you?".

There's great symbolism of mystery and intrigue in the art, reminiscent of Gulacy's Master of Kung Fu covers with graphic design brilliance!
