Description

I backed the Kickstarter for Shawn Crystal's process driven art book INKPULP: Cyan at a level that earned a painted "sketch" card. I know that some will be shocked that I didn't pick Stingray, but I figured he would be a lackluster choice for a headshot. Perhaps someday I will be able to get Shawn to do a larger, full body, painted Stingray. I think Shawns colors and graffiti like style would really make an under water scene pop!

Shawn's mastery of color is on full display here with vibrant hues throughout. I love how the reds and blues that are an important part of the look of the character inform the decision to make the shadows on his face a deep purple rather than black. The level of detail is all the more impressive due to the small size of the art.

2.5 x 3.5 on custom cut board.
