DescriptionParaphrasing the immortal Stan Lee 'This one has everything!'From Tales of Suspense #81, "The Red Skull Supreme!" The Red Skull has control over the Cosmic Cube, an AIM created tool that allows the user to control reality. The only person to try to stop the Skull? Captain America! To show his power, he creates a humanoid to humble Cap. On this page, they are struggling mightily and Cap eventually is victorious. Created in twice up scale, and inked by Frank Giacoia, Kirby shows the power of the battle, having Cap struggle in a trench in hand to hand combat in a huge top panel. The page also has the Red Skull squared off against Cap and as Cap thinks, you can see the hatred in his eye. It's a great page, from the height of the Silver Age. Social/Sharing |

1st off this is awesome and the action is epic. 2nd, I think it's interesting to observe, not just here but in many Kirby pieces, the way he was willing to pick angles to avoid faces and perhaps make the process quicker as deadlines were tight and a lot of story had to be told. Congrats again!!

Love the raw power of those first two panels and the dramatic intensity of the third panel. Kirby magic at its very best. Happy New Year sir.

Classic Kirby goodness! Large Cap battle scene, Red Skull, and those deep, bold Giacoia inks are so powerful. Congrats!

The King! The opening panel is just superb, with Cap straining every sinew in the fight. The Red Skull is crackling with cosmic energy, but it's the fabulous twisting pose of Cap that makes the closing panel. Stunning page!

What a great half page splash. Frank should get credit for great inks on Kirby. Truly Kirby-motion.

Are there enough hyperbolic superlatives to do justice to this triumphant Silver Age wonder? The King rules, ´nuff said!
