DescriptionAn outstanding daily from the famous snowstorm sequence, in which Raymond pulls out all the stops. We have to admire the degree of graphic abstraction, which creates a surreal—better yet, hyperreal—atmosphere that even a David Lynch could hardly achieve on film. I purchased it in 2002 from the legendary Jack Gilbert, who parted with it very reluctantly only because he owed me a favor. In 2012, I foolishly sold it to raise money for other original art. Over the years, I owned many Rip Kirbys, sold them all, but always regretted parting with this one. After 13 years of anguish, I was able to buy it back. Social/Sharing |

Absolutely incredible daily!!! I was very happy to own it for these 13 years, but am glad that I could somehow remedy the anguish I caused you... 🙂🙏🏽

Gilbert was quite a character in the hobby. I was only able to buy stuff when he offered it on ebay. This is a very fine example of Alex Raymond with the different ways he can show it is snowing in the night.

I had the same interactions with him as well! If you were buying from him directly bring your house deed with you, otherwise wait for his eBay auctions! lol
