DescriptionBubblegum Crisis is the story of four women who don armored suits to form the Knight Sabers. Set in Megatokyo in the years 2032 and 2033, they fight the Genom Corp. This began as a direct-to-video animation program in Japan and became one of the first officially licensed American video releases. Dark Horse with the help of Studio Proteus head Toren Smith got the license for an American comic book. The first panel shows the press calling out to Genom chairman Quincy. The following panels show Priss of the Knight Sabers dispatching a Genom boomer robot.I saw Adam Warren at Anime America 1993 in Santa Clara and he was showing off his work for the then upcoming BGC miniseries. I was awed by the vast improvement in his art from the early Dirty Pair stories and said so. Adam turned to indicate BGC character designer Kenichi Sonoda and said he was following a master. Sonoda's comic works Gunsmith Cats and Cannon God Exaxxion are available from Dark Horse. Credits for inking the series include Adam Warren, Robert DeJesus, Harry Candelario, Dave Johnson, Tom Raney, Karl Story, and Brad Vancata. Lettering is by Tomoko Saito. Social/Sharing |
