DescriptionKeith Pollard has been one of my favorite artists since I discovered him as penciler on Iron Man way back in the '70s. He probably reached his pinnacle during his acclaimed run on Thor, which many compared favorably to the legendary John Buscema. I've craved a commission from Keith since I began collecting art.Given this Common Elements scenario pitting Thor surrogate Thunderstrike against fellow mace-wielder Hawkman, Keith attacked it like Willie Mays wheeling on a 3-2 fastball and tattooed it out of the park. Inking stalwart Joe Rubinstein deftly applied the finish work. (You can check out Keith's unadorned pencils in the CE Pencil Originals gallery.) Thank goodness Jeff convinced Keith Pollard to start doing commissions -- especially when the result is a masterpiece like this.

Pollard and Rubinstein are both still hitting on all cylinders. This is a cover-quality image... really nice!

Great theme and great title. Awesome rendition of Hawkman (love that wingspan). Thanks for showcasing the often forgotten Thunderstrike. I am glad to see him in action.

Very cool piece. It's great that you got Pollard to pencil it, since he actually did draw a couple of issues of Thunderstrike. And you can never go wrong with Rubinstein inks. He always does fantastic work.

Awesome. Great combo--characters and artists. Pollard to me is still one of the most under-rated artists. Great.
