Description

Although I'm mainly a superhero fan, I still have some love for the western heroes, and Marvel's especially. Although they haven't ruled the comics universe for decades, I still have a fondness for these characters. And I honestly believe that if Marvel did a western series today featuring these characters, it would sell. Let's have John Ostrander scripting, and how about John Severin or John Cassaday on the art chores. I'd buy that in a New York minute, and I bet others would too.
But until they see the light, the only time you'll see new art featuring these characters is right here in this gallery, and maybe a few others on CAF. This time we have the Rawhide Kid as he leads the Two-Gun Kid, Reno Jones, and Kid Colt to confront whatever owlhoots are unlucky enough to go up against them.

In the years I've engaged in this hobby, I've been fortunate to obtain pieces from some of the truly talented creators in the comics industry. One such individual is LUKE MCDONNELL, who's done quite a few pieces for me as well as some of my respected fellow gallery owners here on CAF. When I asked Luke to do this piece featuring Marvel's western wranglers, he delivered the goods just as I knew he would. Its simply what Luke does, and he does it very well.

When the time came to get it inked, I knew it would be going to my go-to guy for inking, BOB ALMOND. Bob has inked more pieces by far than any other inker in my gallery. When I sent him the GUNSLINGERS piece, I knew he'd enhance Luke's pencils and take them to the next level. What I didn't know was how much he'd enhance the piece. You think all an inker does is trace pencils? You don't know Bob Almond.

Not only did Bob bring out the rich detail in Luke's pencils, he added the cool storm and rain effect you see in the piece above. He took a very good piece and made it a great piece. Man, I almost love looking at your gallery for the descriptions as much as the art. Bob is a class act and I'll eventually get a piece from Luke, when I recover from my latest binge.

That's some truly great art right there. Love the rich characterization by Luke and Bob. Bring back the Western heroes!
