Description

This is the artwork used for the centre panel of the Joe Shuster Award plaque. Joe is positioned in a manner similar to Superman's position on Joe Shuster's classic cover to Superman #1. Fun facts: The building behind Joe is the original Toronto Star building - according to Joe Shuster (in interviews) the Toronto Daily Star was the inspiration for the Daily Star in the early Superman strips (as was the Toronto skyline for Metropolis itself). Joe Shuster was indeed left-handed. The drawing table is also based on Joe's drawing table, currently owned by Jerry Robinson and occasionally surfacing in comics-related exhibits.
