Description

This unforgettable page was created by John Totleben for the Alan Moore story, "Loving the Alien", which featured the Swamp Thing being assaulted by an alien at the far reaches of outer space. This page 12 is one of the few experimental pages imagined by Moore to suggest how strange the universe can be and how Time rules the way it is. There is a "fecundity symbol" on the first front running from a...zipper, showing how love and sex are travelling through Time and Space !

The art is a spectacular collage of mostly a hundred of old and less old watches, clockworks, assembled with different kind of materials on a thick board including a black zipper. Clocks are fixed with glue when the card is roughly black and white painted with ink and oil. The result is very original and quite impressive, as the panel evokes the work of the famous surrealist painter Salvador Dali.
