Description

From the "Storm: The Arena" story arc, a splash of Ororo in her sexy red leather dress, complete with bird mask! This was a really kinky, far-out story arc written by Chris Claremont that featured some amazing and inventive designs by Igor Kordey.

Besides being a cool page, this is also a good example of how much impact an inker can have on the finished artwork. When Kordey inks his own work, it has a rough, gritty style a bit reminiscent of Joe Kubert's work. In contract, here we have Kordey's pencils inked by Scott Hanna, and the result is a more polished, slick look. Kordey is usually his own best inker, but he and Hanna definitely do make a good art team.

I got the page autographed by Claremont and Hanna at the 2009 New York Comic Con. Claremont wrote a humorous personalization about having scripted too much dialogue for the page, a reference to the fact that the lettering was done by computer, so it doesn't show up on the original!
