Description

At this year's Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention (to be held May 1-May 3, 2009), we will be holding an estate auction on Friday evening (May 1) with material from the estate of Frank Hamilton. Frank was a long time fan and well known collector, who contributed fantastic art to many of the pulp fan publications. Frank was also very good friends with the first Doc Savage artist, Walter Baumhofer, who painted many classic Doc covers for the pulps. In 1977, Baumhofer painted this large oil on canvas painting of the Man of Bronze specifically for Frank -- the last Doc Savage painting he ever did. It, along with a complete run of THE SHADOW pulp, all the early DOC SAVAGE pulps (including #1), many other pulps, and lots of tremendous color and black and white art by Frank Hamilton, will be auctioned at Windy City the evening of May 1, 2009.
