Description

In the Autumn of 1944 the Disney Studio designed this insigne for the 51st Service Squadron of the 310th Service Group. At the time they were stationed in Djedelda, Tunsia mainly performing maintenence, repair and upgrades for aircraft flown by the 17th Bombardment Group. The 17th employed the B-26 Marauder, a two-engine propeller driven bomber which is seen being toted by the nephews. Published in DISNEY DONS DOGTAGS by Walton Rawls, Abbeville Press, 1992, p43. Also the cover illustration for the DVD introductory booklet to WALT DISNEY TREASURES - WALT DISNEY ON THE FRONT LINES.
