Description

I found a secondhand copy of Charlie Brown & Charlie Schulz: in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Peanuts in a San Francisco bookstore. Opening the book, I found these two drawings. My guess is the book was signed shortly after its publication in 1970. I missed a good chance to pick up an original daily from the Cartoon Art Museum, but this is a good second best.

How do I describe my appreciation for Peanuts? Music has it's three B's, I have my three C's: Carl Barks, Charles Schulz, and Chuck Jones. The works of these childhood favorites continue to be great sources of pleasure in my adult life. I did get to meet Mr. Schulz when he gave a talk in San Francisco in 1992. I've seen his originals at the Oakland Museum, Cartoon Art Museum, and the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA.

Quite the find! Big congrats! Peanuts was my favorite strip growing up and in the 80s, my big three on the Comics Page were Calvin & Hobbes, Bloom County, and Peanuts.
