DescriptionMerzah the MysticMystic Comics #4 (August 1940) "Merzah the Mystic" was something of a misnomer. Merzah had no magical powers in the established tradition, but did possess both telepathic and precognitive abilities. In his one and only outing, Merzah, aided by his beautiful assistant/girlfriend, Diana, and his valet, Jose, defeats a band of Japanese spies –which in and of itself was quite unusual to find in comics in the pre-Pearl Harbor period. It really is a shame that nothing more was done with Merzah, as the strip had great potential. There was some interesting characterization and the art, credited to "Russ Lanford" was quite good. I'm betting that here and in my gallery are the only places you'll ever find a Merzah the Mystic commission. This is a great piece.
