Description

This is actually the splash page for an unpublished special that Marvel was planning to release in the late 1990s. It was going to feature the Red Skull's return after his apparent death at the end of Captain America #448. The splash page is a recap of the climax to that issue. However, Marvel changed their minds, and the project was canceled after only two or three pages had been drawn (the Skull ended up returning in the pages of Cap's regular book). It's too bad the project was shelved, because Anthony Williams did some very nice work on this. I'm not sure who was going to ink it, but I'd guess Andy Lanning, since he's worked with Williams on numerous occasions. Anyway, this is an interesting glimpse into what could have been.
