Description

This is another piece painted by Pete, in 1962 or earlier, then given as a gift to Susie Pratt in 1964. Based on the inscription on the reverse, I presume it was a Christmas gift. On illustration board, measuring roughly 8 x 10 in. It was framed under glass not long after its creation, but the glass shattered so I just removed it from the frame. As a result it has remained in beautiful condition.

This was one of several Hawley works sold in the form of "decorative wall plaques" by Crofton Plastics, Inc of Byron Center, MI. The plaques includes a line saying © 1962 Pete Hawley. I'm not sure why the frying pan looks different in the print/plaque than in the painting, but close comparison of the fine detail and brushstrokes confirms that this painting was the one used for the finished product.

EDIT: How funny, I just now noticed (over 2 years later) that this illustration is signed by Hawley in the grass at the lower left corner. All this time, I thought it was unsigned...
