DescriptionAfter the knockout Shadowcat piece that Talent Caldwell did for me at last year's Pittsburgh Comic-Con, one of the goals I set for the 2011 show was to get a matching piece featuring Kitty's best friend, Illyana. What he graciously produced for me and what you're looking at here even surpasses that original piece, in my opinion! Thanks, Mr. Caldwell!!! :DSocial/Sharing |

Here's a funny anecdote from meeting him at this year's show: When I was telling him what I wanted him to render, I produced the Shadowcat piece he'd done for me the year before and told him that I wanted the piece to have the same tone and feel (since I planned on presenting them side by side in my portfolio). He looked at the piece and lifted a brow. He was like: "I did this?" It turned out so well he was shocked he'd done it!
He asked me to send him a scan of both pieces when I returned home (ostensibly, for his portfolio), which I did. But that look on his face was something I'll always remember. Priceless! An artist stunned by his own talent!!! :D

I've been talking to Tal about making a sketchbook for sale at conventions, so maybe you'll see your commissions in print :)
