DescriptionOriginal artwork page 35 for Batman Son of the Demon GN (DC, 1987) by Jerry Bingham. This book represents the very first and one of the most important Batman graphic novels in the history of the character. A commercial and critical success and, without any doubt, a bona fide masterpiece in storytelling and illustration.Important scene in the plot of this tale as it is revealed that the villain, Qayin is dying with only six to eight weeks to live and thus, to complete his mission in either saving himself by capturing the Lazarus Pit or destroying the planet in his demise. The final panel of this page highlights the overall epic grandeur of the story as Batman sits at chess with Ra's Al Ghul on a balcony of Ra's mountain citadel. Penciled and painstakingly inked with a quill pen by Bingham, dip and ink, dip and ink etc., with an amazing amount of time and attention given to the rendering and tiny details on the page. Very reminiscent of the legendary Hal Foster's work. Comic book illustration at its zenith! Pages are not only BEAUTIFUL they are HUGE! Paper measuring 15" x 20" with image size of approx. 14" x 16" (twice-up art). In excellent condition on heavy illustration paper. Social/Sharing |
