DescriptionIssue No. 505, 18 September 1971 pages 8 and 9.18 1/2 x 27 1/2 (470 x 700).This painting shows part of a story about the sinking of the "Laconia" by a German submarine U-156. The U-Boat then set about saving Italian POW's, pashingjers and crew. Later the submarine was it self attacked as it was towing lifeboats survivors on it's deck. The American Liberator odeying orders to attack all U-boats sighted with or with out a red cross. The artwork it's self has been attack by the Look and Learn way, by been cut in two and sadly this has been restored before I got to it, so the detail on the Liderator's rear has been lost.Social/Sharing |
