DescriptionI finally have a fantastic piece of art by Chris Sanders. I had been looking for a Chris Sanders piece for well over 2 years. There had been maybe 3 preliminary pieces and 3 finished pieces show up during that time. When the preliminaries showed up I always seemed to be tight on funds and couldn't really see laying down the prices they seemed to go for. In February of 2010 there was a charity auction called Help the Hodges. A bunch of animators and artists had donated items and art to help one of their fellow animators, Tim Hodge, raise money for medical bills for his son who was in a coma after a car accident. Chris Sanders donated 2 finished pieces for the auction. A Kiskaloo piece and a Tattoo Girl. I absolutely adored the Kiskaloo piece and went as high as I could at the time but missed out on it being the underbidder and still regret it to this day.Well after waiting for a piece to come along for that long I finally gave in and contacted Topper Helmers asking if he knew how I might be able to get a piece. He offered to let a piece go and I choose this fantastic figure study. I cannot thank Topper enough for letting me purchase this piece. I am thrilled to finally have a great piece by Chris. What I like most about this piece is how much the face resembles Nani from Lilo and Stich. Lilo and Stich was released in 2002 and Chris did this piece in 2003 which is probably why there is some resemblance to that character. I also liked the piece was so large without a bunch of other preliminary designs allowing you to take in the beauty of this single piece. It might only be a preliminary but you can definitely see that Chris understands the human form. Simply a gorgeous piece that I am thrilled to have in my collection. Size 11 x 13.5. Social/Sharing |
