DescriptionWhen I saw the work of Rodrigo Luff for the first time I immediately fell in love with it. His pieces are all done so beautifully with colors that glow and look like they are radioactive. I had to have a piece by him. There were a couple of pieces that I really liked but they were both sold so I decided to commission Rod to do me a painting instead of wait. I am sure glad that I did. This piece titled "Serenade" is what Rod came up with. When I asked him to do the commission I asked that he do a piece similar to his painting "Owl Song". I also requested that he have here wearing a kimono. He gladly accepted the commission and after finishing up some other previous irons he had in the fire he emailed 3 preliminary drawings for me to choose from. Two of the preliminaries were similar to his pieces "Owl Song" and "Nocturne" which were the pieces that I had liked. And then there was a preliminary that was completely different. The girl in the piece was in a very serene pose and looking at the it just made me relax and smile. That was the piece I wanted Rod to do. I sent Rod an email back and he said that that one had been his personal favorite as well. Rod then began sketching out the final piece. He sent me rough start and when he did there wasn't something quite right with the piece. Between the preliminary and the rough sketch her face had changed. There had been some kind of serene beauty in that first face that I absolutely loved and had been lost when moved to the new sketch. I asked Rod if he could recapture that beauty for me and he kindly went back and changed it. After getting that change made everything went very quickly. Within a week Rod had sent me a picture of the final and it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything about the piece is perfect. All of the owls are awesome to look at and the colors are vibrant. I absolutely love all the detail he put into the piece. From the dragonflies flying at the top amongst the trees to the beautiful details on the kimono and who could forget the owls that are serenading the beauty as she looks on in a quiet awe. It is an absolutely beautiful piece that I am so glad that I commissioned. I don't think I would have been able to have gotten a better piece by Rod even if I had waited. Size 9x12. Social/Sharing |

This is an amazing piece! The colors really add light to the image.
