'By Lug!'

Paid full price again, but what a page! There is little more to say about McMahon's run on Slaine. One of the times that a comic book came close to fine art...these pages are singular products of a unique genius.

The medium is a thin Rotring-style pen, almost like a ball point, but the control is perfect. Just a few scraps of white-out in panels 3, 6 and 7 to articulate the facial expression, otherwise the image is simple, direct and immediate.

Definitely worth whatever you paid, Ben. An absolutely classic scene from a bloody marvelous run on Slaine. This first appearance of the Gae Bolga was a particularly memorable one for me; gory fun, but educational! A fantastic addition to your collection.
