Carl Lundgren Cover Art, The Book of Vale

Original cover illustration used for the dust jacket art on this Nancy Springer omnibus, in which was printed The Black Beast and the Golden Swan. A dynamic piece. Inch-and-a-half white border to painting, of which there are some brief publisher marks, and a few areas of tape residue, none affecting the actual artwork. Carl Lundgren began his career doing concert posters for Pink Floyd and the Who amongst others, moving on to a very successful and prolific career in illustration artwork. Winner of many awards, including the Chesley Award for a Nancy Springer title in 1985, Lundgren produced over 300 book cover illustrations before "retiring" to fine art, which he still produces. He has produced well known covers for The Book of the Dun Cow, Stranger in a Strange Land, Rogue Moon, Time Enough for Love, Starship Troopers, and many more.

Nancy Springer is the author of over thirty fantasy and young adult novels, including the popular Book of the Isle series, the last two collected in this edition. She has received many awards, including nominations for the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards.

This piece measures 17" wide by 26" tall and is in acrylic on illustration board. There is some glare in all photos of the painting (book not included, just pictured for reference) due to the framing. The piece is framed using museum quality, acid-free mat-board with a simple metal frame. The acrylic is UV-resistant.
