Description

Earl Norem is best known to me as being arguably the premiere illustrator of the blood and guts men's magazines of the 1960's. He was one of the few from that group who made a successful transition to comic books after those men's magazines died out, becoming a noted artist for Marvel. He is also one of the few who is (as of this writing) still alive.

This is from the May 1972 issue of For Men Only. It's for the "Smash Book Bonus": "The Florida Love Swamp Raiders". This is different from the title on the art itself, so I don't think it is a preexisting work being reprinted by this magazine. It's also less than 7 pages of text, which is kind of short for a book. Nonetheless, Library Digest allegedly said, "Sexually speaking, it takes over where the best of Erskine Caldwell leaves off." Wow! I haven't read the story as of this writing, but it kind of sounds like Deliverance with a big-boobed woman instead of Ned Beatty and no banjos. Below is the page as published.

The tough guy and his busty companion are watching the bad guys sink into quicksand, no doubt thinking to themselves, "This business of not struggling isn't working out so well."

Something that doesn't strike you when seeing this online is how huge it is. To give you an idea of the scale, in terms easily understood, the boobies are a full six inches from side to side.

Thank you everything Robert. Got the illustration. Better than people can imagine from the picture. Was also able to get the second illustration from the "Florida Love Swamp Raiders" story; quite a site to see both together in person! Not aware of anyone finding both of the original art pieces for those few men's adventure magazine stories that have two illustrations. Could not have done it without you showing me both pictures on CAF! Thank you, Ashley Batchelor
