Descriptionin 2006, i did some writing on my blog related to the vegetal lamb or vegetable lamb, which was a myth that told of a tree with pods of wool with little lambs growing inside of them.there are various early engravings of such things, i believe the earliest in the 1600's, and there is a nice long article in a 1932 issue of the colophon. ever since i read about it, i have been trying to find more information on the myth (or truth!), but i never NEVER expected to see a piece of comic art related to the story, much less including a drawing of it! of course, i love this paul pim rendering of the lamb tree, and even more so that pim adds a few other oddities... such as the "famous barnacle tree goose" and a mythical four legged fowl... great stuff! there's some more info here: http://inbetweennoise.blogspot.com/search?q=vegetal+lamb Social/Sharing |
