One trip. From France to the U.S. of A. I was 21 and hoped to visit the Big Apple. Thanks to my (once) pen pal, Steve Leialoha, I've met a lot of people and enter inside the House of Ideas....Marvel Comics Group... I've met so much of nice and / or people (for "we fans") there : John, Romita, Marie Severin, Alen Milgrom, Ann Nocenti, jim Shooter, Joseph Rubinstein, Ron Wilson, Jack Abel...and others artists crossing my path....see the sketches ! At DC office I as stunned to meet as easily as possible Mister Dick Giordano. No sketches there but a pile of comic books offered ! At Continuity associates : Neal Adams has shown me the new work of Michael GOLDEN (it was not "Mile" in those times...) on Bucky O'Hare... For some reason I had to come back the day after... Jack Sparling was there. The man was cool . The day before, he asked me to write my full name on a piece of paper. At our second meeting he offered me a "Buck Rogers" strip of his own with some personal words....I was so glad toward this "old timer..." With Steve Leialoha (we first met a few years back at Birmingham -U.K.-) and Trina Robbins, we walk and ring a bell in a building to visit : "Upstart studio". The bearded man who open the door ....was Walt Simonson ! Entering in the large room ...I recognized immediatly a tall man (thanks to his unique painting style and the illustration near him) : Howard Chaykin . I was just a kid...My joy was complete !...The third man, you know already, was Frank Miller.... Seek in the Yellow pages : Yes ...I've found the phone number and complete adress of a legendary man...Stev Ditko....The man accepted to open his door. Trying to meet Michael Kaluta, I went to visit his studio. The man was elsewhere. but Charles Vess was magicaly here. Merci Mister Vess.... At least, with a special event : a comic con in NYC, my travel was "the one an d big event" of my young life. jack Kirby was a guest of honor. ...and so much people were there to meet. Memories......
