Artists Help Japan 1 Year Anniversary
For the one year anniversary of the hurricane and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011 Artists Help Japan had another charity auction. Original art as well as a lot of signed art books were auctioned for the cause.
When the Artists Help Japan 1 Year Anniversary auctions began there were so many awesome pieces and art books listed. I decided I was going to hold out and hopefully get a few pieces of art. During the final round of auctions the original art was listed. There were pieces by Ronnie Del Carmen, Bill Presing, Sho Murase, Patrick Awa, Enrico Casarosa, Yoko Tanki, Steve Purcell, Dice Tsutsumi, as well as others.
I narrowed my scope down to 4 pieces that I would possibly go after. The pieces I liked were by Ronnie Del Carmen, Sho Murase, Patrick Awa, and Tanja Krampfert. The auctions were all ending within seconds of each other. When time came to bid I decided to pass on the Del Carmen since I have a couple pieces by him and go for the other 3. I won all 3 pieces I went after. I was within a dollar of losing the Patrick Awa piece but I did get it so I guess it was meant to be.
