Valkyrie and Hellcat: Because I Demanded It!
As a kid I loved The Defenders. It was weird and a little scary sometimes and it featured my absolute favorite super-heroine ever, Valkyrie. I was also a huge fan of the ‘buddy’ comic series like Powerman and Iron Fist, Green Lantern / Green Arrow, and the granddaddy of ‘em all, World’s Finest (remember when Superman and Batman were pals?) I always thought that a buddy comic starring Valkyrie and her Defenders teammate Hellcat would have been fantastic. I envisioned the pair traveling around the world as Patsy’s modeling career reignited. They’d visit exotic locales, encounter fellow heroes, and battle vile villains. It would’ve been awesome! Alas, no such series appeared on the shelves. As my new theme, I decided to commission the covers to my hoped for but never received Valkyrie / Hellcat series. Think of this theme as my love letter to the Marvel Comics of my youth. Only, y’know, much more talented folks than I are doing the actual ‘writing’. Enjoy!
