Some days, when I see a piece of art from "new guy" on the art scene listed for many hundreds... or even thousands... of dollars, I think about these Alex Raymond and John Prentice dailies and think that these are the best bargain out there. Every single daily has something of interest, not to mention outstanding figure work, inking and technique. Raymond never rested on his laurels and always modified his style, almost as if he made a conscious effort to change something every six months or so. Prentice took over the strip when Raymond died suddenly and kept the look set by Raymond. Their work on Rip Kirby exemplifies mastery of illustration and inking in comic strips.
