Timesteps - Jade
An idea I'd been toying with was to have Jade's CV drawn up by a single artist, illustrating Jade's look and maturation as a superheroine throughout her career, from her early days as a member of Infinity, Inc., to her time as an Outsider.
I decided that Christopher Rich-McKelvey would be an ideal artist to work on this project having seen his drawings, first here, on CAF, then at his own website at www.baldguystudios.com. I've become very fond of his work; he has a very clean line, often brings his own humourous touches to his work, and most interestingly, favors non-traditional compositions for the heroes he's asked to draw.
Chris was familiar with Jade as a character, having drawn her once before. So apart from a brief character sketch, most of the material I forwarded him consisted of costume references. My key instruction to him was that each successive drawing should try and reflect the growth she experiences as a character; attitude, body language, etc. should be consistent with what's happening at that point in her life.
