The 4th World
How much do we all love Jack Kirby's 4th World!? I know I do and I'm always thrilled to take on a commission depicting any of these characters. I have been commissioned to "pull out all the stops" on a big 22.5 x 28.5 '' Prisma-color drawing which features 8 full figure lead characters: Orion, Lightray, Black Racer, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Forager, Fastback, and my favorite Metron. Also included are a torso shot of Highfather and headshot of the evil Darkseid. As background elements there are panoramas of Apokolips and New Genesis. After a couple of months (in between working on several other pieces) of figure drawing and re-sizing the figures, I worked the composition (always SO important to me) into a design that I'm very thrilled with. My inspiration after Kirby on this piece has been the Sistine chapel works of Michelangelo. The heroic and dynamic human form has been explored in two very different ways by both artists and I hope my work brings the two together. The rendering will be another month long process, as I want to give each character full treatment. I'm anxious to show off a project that has taken so much time and people seem to enjoy seeing work in progress, so this gallery room features some photos
