Al BUELL
Alfred Leslie Buell (29 Mar 1910 - 04 Feb 1996). Al Buell, as he was known professionally, was an American illustrator who joined the Stevens/Hall/Biondi Studio in Chicago in 1935. He is known for the pin-up art he produced for calendar companies including Gerlach-Barklow and Brown & Bigelow and for Esquire magazine. In addition, during the 1940s and 1950s, he produced illustration art for many popular magazines including the Saturday Evening Post, McCall's, Redbook, and Cosmopolitan and advertising art for clients such as Coca-Cola. In 1965, he retired from commercial art and turned to fine art, remaining active until he was injured in a car accident in 1993.
