Description

Briz took my theme and slammed a home run with this lovely piece. From the Eisneresque incorporation of the characters' names into the background elements, to the charming expressions on both faces, every detail of the drawing is beautifully rendered. A splendid job in every respect. The scan doesn't come close to reflecting the entire scope of the 11x17" art. The "common element" between Denny and Kitty is a subtle one: Before settling on Shadowcat as her nom de guerre, Kitty briefly toyed with several other code names, one of which was "Sprite" -- a word derived from the same root as "Spirit." They're also two of the surprisingly few characters of Jewish heritage in mainstream comics.
