Even back in the 1948, they didn't give Truman credit as the headlines read "Dewey Defeats Truman". ![]() Roosevelt should have stuck with Lodge. |

Scout #6 Cover by Timothy Truman (1986) Owner: Rick W Comment posted on 2/10/2025 This was one of my favorite titles on the newsstand at the time. Truman doesn't seem to get the accolades he deserves for producing such high quality work independently in the 1980s small press era —or even after with Vertigo. This is a beauty. |

Gibbons, Dave - Watchmen, team prototype (1985) Owner: Chris K. Comment posted on 12/24/2024 This answers the question (pun intended) of, "How could Rorschach have been more terrifying to criminals?" Head to toe Spandex —that's how! Incredible. |

"Death Metal Wonder Woman" Owner: Christian Palomba Comment posted on 12/13/2024 The skin tones are great. The eyeline suggests a very close object of interest merely inches from our POV —which is an interesting choice that you don't see very often. Not sure if this became a cover or not but if it did it probably gave a lot of double takes to Scarlet Witch fans. |

JSA Issue 54 Cover by Pacheco and Merino - Virtue, Vice and Pumpkin Pie Owner: Malvin V Comment posted on 11/28/2024 I especially like the Atom engaging with his friends and teammates from the center of the table. Carlos Pacheco is an undervalued illustrator —more than a mere journeyman. |

Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four #17 pg 9 Owner: Jared Michalski Comment posted on 9/19/2024 Any depiction of the Thing wearing a necktie is one worth celebrating, and the interaction as depicted has a wonderfully subtle sense of movement even though there isn't a lot of "action" per sé. Q: Is Jennifer a new riff on Alicia Masters? |

Mary Marvel and Supergirl by Danny Kim Owner: Grant Riddle Comment posted on 9/8/2024 Very few modern artists have captured the essence of fun and good cheer inherent to Marc Swayze's Mary Marvel, but here Danny Kim has channeled both he and Mac Raboy and even Al Plastino via a bit of Art Arams and J. Scott Campbell. This is wonderful! |

Union Jack The Ripper: Blood Hunt Issue 3 pg. 18 Owner: Gerry McDade Comment posted on 8/26/2024 I haven't been keeping up on this Blood Hunt theme —and I never particularly cared for Union Jack, but this is gloriously over-the-top in a Rafael Albuquerque meets Steve Bissette kind of way. I need to pay more attention to Kev Walker. |

Sandman #63 Page 20 Original Art Hempel Owner: Joshua Brooks (apacsellercollectibles) Comment posted on 8/23/2024 As a huge fan of Blood of the Innocent I was overjoyed to see Hempel land the Sandman gig. He brought a Love and Rockets feel in so far as it was hyper stylized. His bold outlines helped to showcase some of the best coloring in the series, too. |

Amazing Spider-Man 43 Cover (2024) Owner: Alberto Gonzalez Comment posted on 8/19/2024 Very stylized with respect to arm-to-head, and spine lengths ratios, but Hanna's parallel line shading brings an almost Arthur Adams-ness to this dual character stacking —irrespective of anatomical correctness, and enjoyable regardless. |

ZEN, INTERGALACTIC NINJA #2 Page 12 Owner: Joel Gahr Comment posted on 8/15/2024 Ross Andru is so underrated. He was the artist on the very first Spiderman comic cover I ever saw on the newsstand. This page from one of Archie Comics' many forays into the superhero genre showcases Andru's versatility. If he'd taken the leap into self publishing during the first B&W indie explosion with an original character in this style, he could have struck gold. I can totally see him penciling crossovers with the Turtles or Usagi Yojimb and connecting with fans of that era in a way that neither Jack Kirby nor Steve Ditko could. |

HULK #272 COVER- The Holy Grail! Owner: Ruben DaCollector Comment posted on 8/14/2024 Looking at this art in black and white I would never have imagined all that blue sky in the published cover. Great write-up, and I also scoff at the over usage of the term "grail". Happy to see that you were able to obtain yours. The comic that I first remember buying on the newsstand (which I kept in good enough condition to get it pressed and cleaned to a 9.0 grade) was Werewolf by Night #32, and that Don Perlin cover if it ever went back up for sale would be significantly more than the value of my house. The other comic that remains a childhood touchstone for me is different Hulk cover from the Herb Trimpe era. That would also cost a small fortune, but more akin to a new car than a house. Congrats for scoring your Holy Grail back when it was was still financially possible! |

Gully and Red Monika by Edu Souza Owner: Oren Twig Comment posted on 8/13/2024 The 21 year gap between Battlechasers #9 and 10 is beaten only by the 29 year gap in completing Miracle Man: The Silver Age. If there's ever a #11, Souza would be a great pick to pencil it. |

Hellblazer #259 page 2 by Simon Bisley Owner: Shahin Chandrasoma Comment posted on 7/28/2024 At a point in the early 90s I was buying complete issues of Lobo's Back with Gaston (Meltdown) and Glenn (Danzig), so I've seen a lot of his work up close.
