Compelling cover image by the statesman of old school comics illustration.  From start to finish, this cover glows with skill, technique, and a feel for the time and place simply through the staging and character design.

Thank you for the comment, Marcus.  As you note, Chaykin has assimilated and thought deeply about the styles of the great twentieth century illustrators.  His work is a master class in design.

It's always nice when my CAF friends post things to remind me that my collection is still missing pieces by some of the true greats in comics.  I've enjoyed Chaykin's work for years and years, but have yet to land a nice example for myself.  Thanks for showing me how it's done.  Great Chaykin cover!

Thank you for the very kind words, Eric.  I'm sure you will add a great Chaykin piece to your most impressive collection some day soon.

Straight classic Spidey, swingin' right atcha, by one of our Spidey artists of the '90s!  So much poured in to this 11x17 board at a killer price!  I'm lucky to have nabbed a Spidey-centric commission as well.  Congrats A K!

Thank you, my friend.  I just saw your Butler piece and it's amazing!  Or should I say spectacular?  😉

I love this series as well.  It had all the humor and action that made this legenedary team's run on Justice League so great.  Kevin Maguire is a singular talent and this cover shows why.  His pencils are tight, tight, tight and his facility with expression is unmatched.  Poor(?) Hulk is going to get smashed.

Cool Spidey commission! Of course a lot of us remember Steven Butler from his work on Silver Sable and Web of Spider-Man! How awesome that you commissioned him to do this piece! I love the end result--Very nice depth created to separate Spidey from the Daily Bugle behind him. Gorgeous piece!

Thank you for the comment, Bill!  Steven did a very nice job on this commission and as you note, he created the illusion of depth very nicely.  Your Spider-Man collection is a constant source of wonder to me and other collectors.

It's a clssic pose and it is super clean;y detailed like an Adams or Bradshaw Spider-Man.  The background resembles the work he did when he did the series but is very tight in the illustration style.

That's a very astute point about the way Butler now draws backgrounds; thanks for the comment, Marcus!

Such a lovely and fitting tribute.  Jason't trademark blacks have never looked better.  Kudos to Smitty for capturing the essence of JP's signature style here.  I'm just so moved by the fact that Paul would choose to honor Pearson in this way.  This is one very special piece.  And I agree with your, Jason would be proud indeed.

Thank you, Eric!  I know how much Jason's work meant to you.  I was perusing your CAF gallery again today and looking at your Pearson artwork.  Wow.  That man could draw anything and make it look dynamic and compelling.  I think Smitty really captured Jason's essence with this Mack and Panda piece.  And I hope that somewhere, Mr. Pearson has found the peace that seems to have eluded him in life.

Blanc Noir was apt in describing Body Bags with Pearson using his heavy yet sharp inks.  Paul Smith accomplishes that look for Panda and Mack by holding off from his own style to get that slick 90's Pearson flourish using brush and then thin lines where shading is needed.

Thank you for the comment, Marcus!  I agree; Paul sublimated his distinctive style to pay homage to Jason Pearson.  I think Mr. Pearson would have loved this tribute to Panda and Mack.
