Nice page.  This is the period when Shooter was demanding all of us Inkers separate planes on the pages by THICK and THICKER black outlines.  It was really ridiculous for him to be so global about it.  I think most, if not all, of these THICK lines are actually by me.  : )

I did them thicker because the issue before I just ignored Jim and because his goose-stepping orders weren't followed, he went though the issue with a fugging Laundrey Marker and messed-up some of the pages pretty bad.  But you got a nice one.

I had fun inking Jose.  What a nice man.  Is there any chance in getting a higher-rez scan of these?  : )

I wrestled with Inking Chris sometimes.  Sometimes it felt right and other times my Inking gave me the creeps.  But in retrospect, this ain't half bad.  : )

Nice Job<  I can say that because I don't think I inked this page.  I think it's either Joe Sinnott... or I got REALLY good for a Page or Two.

Ouch... I used to play a few Machines when I was a Mailman back when I was 18.  Aces High was my machine... but I never saw MJ hanging there.

I'd never met Jose before and I was just strolling through Comiccon and I heard a voice calling, "Hey Al!"  I looked around and saw no one I recognized.  I kept walking, and then I heard it again, "Al Gordon?"  I turned around and saw this fella smiling and he sauntered up to me and said, "Al Gordon, right?"  I said, "Sure," and he introduced himself and said that I was his fave Inker on Thundercats.  I laughed and asked him if he'd been drinking, "Be serious... You've been inked by Al Williamson."  He said, "Sure, but you did Captain Carrot.  You were perfect for Thundercats."

I thanked him, and told him he was delusional, and we had a great talk.

Shooter kept firing me off the FF, and Byrne wanted me to ink the book and kept threatening to quit if "his Choice for Inker" was always being "removed."  Carlin stuck me on Thundercats to keep me outta Shooter's crosshairs.

I inked Captain Carrot over Scott Shaw and the brilliant Stan Goldberg when I was first Inking and I dug working on "Big Foot" stuff, so this tirned-out to be a blast.  AND... I met Jose at a con some years back, and he was the nicest, most gracious man.

All of us so-called Talent in Comics, work for Print.  As much as I love Comic Art by my fave Artists, the Original Original Art was done for Publishing, not for Wall-Hanging or hiding away in a Baggie.  Obviously it's a bit different now.  If Inkers had to start over if/when they made a mistake, the work would never get finished.  I'm lucky to get a single page Inked in 8-12 hours.  I could certainly make more money managing a Taco Bell.

Ink, White-Out, Paper, Brushes, Pen Nibs, etc., have all changed pretty dramatically over the last century...  I remember Al Williamson complaining about Windsor-Newton brushes and ink when I first met him in the late 70s.  The Quality has never been dependable, and it's So Much Worse now.  That adds to the problems with the Original Art being done on that archaic, somewhat obsolete thing called Paper.

All that said, you kinda have to do Stars with White-Out... unless you're insane.  My old good friend, Dave Stevens, was even more anal retentive than me - which is really saying something.  Most of the time, the only Whiteout on his pages is Stars.  : )
