Poor Mihail.  At least he made it out when he moved to Boston.  Why didn't the monk revive the master himself by luring young men to the crypt?  You know this freak does it in his spare time.

There was not really a dormant vampire here to revive. Draka was already up and about, monitoring the monastery on horseback. Dracula's remains are not actually here either, as Draka comments to the monk.
Draka was toying with the three grave robbers, frightening them with a hallucination of Vlad, after Mihail assaulted his servant the monk. As a Master of the Night, Draka has powers of illusion and mind control that make him much more dangerous than the vampire thralls he creates.

I assume later attached to an overlay..the art itself as you see doesnt have words.

I do have pages from this era where the text was on a vellum overlay. However in that case usually there would be registration marks (a circle with a cross through it) taped to both the art page and the vellum page, so they could be lined up properly for reproduction. You can see an example here in the additional images, with Chris Claremont holding up the art and text pages separately, with the registration mark at the bottom of each.

I asked Tom Orzechowski how the text was added to the pages of X-Men 133 during production. He replied: "Most likely, the lettering, on vellum, was pasted onto photostats. As more and more books began to push the schedules, the practice moved to glueing directly onto the art. This allowed them to skip the step (and expense!) of making stats. How nice, meanwhile, that the art exists with all of Terry's background inks on display!"

And really, the art tells the story well enough that the text is superfluous. It is fun to see the marginal comments though.

with panel 3 and 5 on pg. 46 it almost has a more cyberpunk/retro futurisitc feel with the DOS prompt/old school computer imagery. The Matrix is a good callout too like you mentioned. the subtle darkening of the scene on pg. 47 as Nathan looses concsiousness is an interesting approach to showing that change in the character, although if you didn't point it out in the description I'm not sure I would've caught it since there's no published reference for the page.

Yes, this series has a strong cyberpunk element, including a large role for trans-national corporations who make their own laws. Nathan often wears a jacket similar to Rick Deckard's in Blade Runner.

It's safe to say Prince Rudolf was not a great person. The worst is yet to come.

From photos, Klara really did look like that, including short hair and older than her age. As for the "spinster by the fireplace" look, hey, Germany was cold in the winter! This scene takes place in December 1888.

This plan is as stupid as the nutzees.  Don't they know these journalists are doing the work for them?  Aren't the journalists just going to publish this information and get it out there?  Killing the librarian and the journalists also makes no sense if you want to legitimize the information.  I mean, unless the diary comes with a certificate of authenticity or slabbed in CGC signature series, how else would I know this isn't a fake diary?  It's also easier for them to fake "truth" on X and Facebook these days than to actually have the historical proof.  The Ai and cable news will also make the "truth" more compelling and profitable.  Plus there will be memes and also NTFs to sell.

You are thinking along the same lines that I was. Better if there are two factions of Nazis: Steiner wants to own the diary and publicize Hitler's alleged royal origins. He could have an important additional motive which I will discuss next time.

But the young Nazi punks just want the Eagles' Nest to be left as a holy shrine rathe per than excavated and turned into a restaurant and tourist attraction, which is why they attacked a Martin and Renata repeatedly.

This image is based on a series of character portraits that Ross rendered from his custom photo-references, as part of the "Secret Origins" project. The figures have appeared in numerous configurations over the years, from stand-alone portraits of each hero to composite team shots. Back in 2002 Ross sold giclee prints featuring a digitally composited shot of the whole Justice League. I've had the print hanging on my wall since then.

https://www.gallerydirectart.com/cl-cp1279.html

The figures in the current CAF image are chest-up versions of the same poses found on the previous Secret Origins character shots, now rendered in green, with more dramatic lighting. Why waste a good photo reference?
