this is so awesome!

Part of the idea behind these is that I used to draw great sketches at school.  Then when I'd get home and do it on good paper it sucked. It missed the spontaneity.  So the idea is to get a laid back fun sketch from folks

hopefully tomorrow or thursday i can post my GL book images.  it is pretty impressive and thanks for looking at the flash ones!

do you still have all of these?  i was literally in talks to whoever was selling them to buy the whole story and had to back out at the last minute.  i think i'd written the check and then had to run to the mailbox to grab it out.

damn, i feel like that may have been one of my biggest mistakes.

100% agree.  My dream is to find his dark knight dark city pages or his flinch pages.   He told me the dark knight dark city original art was stolen from his car though so if I did find it I'd give it back to him and then try to buy it from him but the flinch art will hopefully pop up.  
 

I love his books!  Steel streets is like robocop meets ninja turtles through a frank miller lens with a lot of original humor. 

his other books are all different but all great too!   Up and comer for sure!

yeah, the wait seemed like forever but since all you had to do was put your name and no deposit it certainly wasn't a bad deal.  what gets me is the price.  i think this may have been $300.  maybe.  at most.  b/c i was broke back then.  not sure what inflation today would make that but no matter what still a bargain.

i followed Atomic Robo after they left Red5 comics but didn't see much from IDW.  so the series is living on through kickstarter?  good to know.  hopefully i can snag a sketch like this.  really nice!

if i recall correctly it was my second year working the show so i knew i wouldn't get a lot of time to go and wait for sketches.  i found these little sketch cards with the blue line and i could drop them off at the artist's table and just come back for them later.  a few were done on the spot but most i just went back for on sunday.  

ha!  its a callback to a page early in the story where DD's neighborhood is all messed up.  the story gets going and its about karen and foggy and the start of thier friendship all working together.  this is at the end of the story (second to last page i think) where DD goes back and he's seeing (radaring?) back and its almost the same exact page as before but now its clean and improved and you can see foggy with a client.  a happy ending.

man, i really loved this run.  i have the single issues, the trade, then the new fancy trade they put out of it.  but when you look at this page, you see each brick individually painted.  its insane.

can't wait to see what you got!!  i'll keep posting every few weeks.  my only regret is i bought a bunch of his random sketches to give away as gifts and some of them were just truly unique things i've never seen anyone else do.  one was two guys playing chess.  another was an ice cream truck.  i wish i'd scanned them before giving them away.  same with some troy nixey doodles i bought to give as christmas gifts.  one was a dude riding an eggplant!!  i guess i can always reach out to the people i gifted them to

man, i would love to see a collection of his commissions.  from what i've seen he always just goes crazy with them.  i have one more i have yet to post.  my instructions to him were "just do a troy nixey".  when i got it framed the framer had no idea what to do w/ it.  :D  i'll post it one day.

Flatulena!   It was a short he did.   Now I gotta find where it was published.   Posting a sketch I got of that one really soon.   See my horror themed book.  I think he also did the second super patriot miniseries as well.  

keep talking!  i love good stories.  its why i try to put in as much as i can remember when i post art.  and great call on the lending comics.  too true!  now, trades are a different story.

Dave did Chain Gang War for DC which was ok, but it was his Super Patriot that i think really showed off what he could really do.  Not sure how much of it was Keith Giffen and how much was him but it is incredible!  after that (and after posting this) i saw he did a page or a sequence in Invincible (i'll have to track it down) and i think he did something for a harley quinn book where a different artist did each page.  other than those and as you mentioned Red Son, i can't think of anything else.  my goal is to own a published page/cover from him one day.  
i do own a calendar page he did for Marvel early on in his career that is pretty cool.  it has spider-man fighting Rhino.  i'll post it one day.
