Great comparison pieces. A lot of the difference seems to be in Superman's head and neck, which seem bigger and better in the next version. He has more cross-hatching rendering on this version as well, although it looks fine here. As you say, this version is pretty great as it is.

Look, I looove "mouse as ...". I have one (Dr Strange) and was planning on one more (Starman). But when I saw this I thought it was brilliant. Far better than a "Mouse as ...". What a great idea, the underwater mouse. And david did such a great job on it. Just fantastic!!!

Amazing page. I love the Grundy and Mikaal Tomas storyline that flows through Starman, and this pages captures so much of what makes Grundy special. (A little goofy how Ted calls him Solomon though, innit?)

I have gone as far as starting emails to Rick but never pulled the trigger; I regret that more than ever upon seeing this piece. Even though it is a side shot of Doc it does not diminish the strength of the art. GREAT pickup.

I love it. This is a real gem to add to ANY collection. I like that you get the full Ditko treatment in the backgrounds as opposed to a straight character piece ala the Marvel Women art.
