Most of my collecting effort has focused on Vertigo titles art, with "Sandman", "Animal Man" and "Doom Patrol" featuring prominently. A couple early Bissette/Totleben "Swamp Thing" pages, a Chadwick's "Concrete" portfolio plate and the incomparable Kevin O'Neill's "Marshal Law" help round out my 1980's collection. I have yet to figure out how to scan my Dave McKean "Violent Cases" page, but will get it posted soon. Now if only I could get a good "Tank Girl" and McCarthy "Paradax/Strange Days" page.....
Recently, I've been pursuing my niche interets more. Gene Colan is a favorite, albeit one which I came to late. My MODOK and Helicarrier collections are growing, and bring my a frisson all out of proportion to the money spent on them. I've also begun seriously pursuing art from those '70s era books I treasured and read over and over again. It's not that the art was great (although sometimes it was); to me it's the thrill of holding an original to a book I used to carry in my school binder and read at lunch.
I have about 90 pieces in my collection, and a very understanding wife. Without her, my collection wouldn't be so beautifully framed.
