GI JOE ISSUE 6 PAGES 2 AND 3 DUKE VS COBRA COMMANDER ORGIN STORIES Owner: Jason Richardson Comment posted on 6/26/2025 Killer two pages my friend! Everything on the GI Joe side of things has been built on these two characters & to have a beautiful recap of both of their mini series here with all of the important Joe & Cobra characters present. This is an excellent pick up! Also, you're correct, the CC mini was drawn digitally so this really is the next best thing when it comes to the events of that series! Congrats again!! |

Transformers #11 Pg 12 - Spike remembers Optimus Prime & the deer. Owner: Carl’s Collection Comment posted on 6/11/2025
Ruben DaCollector said:
For me, it's the human moments that comics don't traditionally tackle within their stories that leave the strongest impact. It's all about that moment Optimus stepped on the deer and killed it. As you say, these Transformers must each weigh several tons and if they actually existed here on earth, they'd do plenty of serious damage before realizing that all is NOT the same as on Cybertron. The fragility of life, indeed. ![]() The human moments are where this book unexpectedly shines. Of course it has the action that you would expect, but its what happens inbetween those action beats. The interpersonal moments, where we see each of them grappling with the effects of this war in their own ways. The dynamics between the humans and bots, something present in the cartoon & movies for "accessibility" sake...here though, we really see how each has somehting to offer the other & the outcomes their conversations lead to. Just some damn fine comics! |

Nice flashback to the deer scene that gave us the distinct difference between the Autobots and Decepticons. With this series, there's going to be a lot of memorable moments. I think Starscream's clap is going to be right up there that affected the whole Energon Universe. ![]() Oh yeah, you're absolutely right! While I was writing, I was thinking of early Optimus moments, but yeah, the Starscream clap...that is a driving plot point connecting TF & Joe. Also why I targeted Tom Reilly pages featuring Duke's PTSD related to that pivitol moment. Ultimately, these books are filled with some great moments and those fully along for the ride will be rewarded! |

So glad to hear that your enjoyment and appreciation of the series continuesd to grow with every subsequent issue they release, Carl. That bodes well for them sticking the landing! If they do, you know who to recommend it to! ![]() I'm really hoping they do stick the landing! There are elements throughout the series that continue to make it a top of the pile read each month. While I don't think its going to end up being everyone's favorite piece of DWJ work, it certainly feels like it's being written for guys like me, who like DWJ, is still in that earlier stage of parenthood. I hope its one i'll be able to whole heartedly reccommed to others when its all said and done! |

Congrats on this fantastic page! I resonate with your description and this series as a daddy of young kiddos too. The screen tones are fantastic and Riley really used every inch of that entire page. ![]() Thanks Greg, while you don't need to be a parent to appreciate this series, being one though puts it all on another level! It was defineitly my top target for this issue, really wanted to get something with Brio front and center! I also like that, while I don't mind the blue pencils found on Riley's pages, I also like that this one is largely free of those. I do love seeing the process on a page, but sometimes it can take away from the impact of the finished work. Huge bonus that the screentones are found throughout on this one too!! Love what they bring to the appreciation of the art up close! |

oohh me likey that top panel of them falling from the sky out of the helicopter although I guess they do have winged jet packs so I guess technically they fly from there. Are DWJ and Riley alternating issues or are they both doing pages within each issue? congrats on adding an example from the other co-creator on a book you are loving. ![]() Thanks Kavi! This was definitely one I zeroed in on before the Felix drop, that top panel being the key reason! With the art duties, it's actually really interesting on this book. There is a clear split with DWJ only drawing real world events & Riley drawing everything in the dream world. Most of the series is set in the dream world, DWJ has said his art accounts for about 20% of the series. With that said there are instances where they both end up working on the same board, sometimes appearing to work within the same panel (one sequence involved the parents entering the dream world from the real world). So having one complete page from each of the guys, naturally you can guess what my next want from this series might be! Haha

Glad you're enjoying this series so much and that it's resonating with you as a parent of young children. I'm not a fan of the fantasy/mystical aspect of it, but I may try this out myself someday. ![]() The dreamworld set scenes are really wild, but I also love the characters that populate that world (for some very story specific reasons). Rossmo's style is a perfect fit for those scenes. I'll definetly let you know if it sticks the landing and is indeed a recommendation. |

It's still early in the story and the parents are still in doubt over what the shaman is telling them, but you can see the desperation in the faces and body language! That panel is left open and free of background so you can focus upon it. ![]() I love when he opts to do those kinds of open panels where he lets the characters themselves convey all of the necessary information in that moment. |

I haven't read this series yet, but between the art and the strong dialogue from DWJ it looks like something more people should be checking out if they haven't already. Glad you are enjoying and have a strong personal connection to it ![]() My gut tells me, much like DWJ's other stories, this will be a much better read once completed. I'm very much looking forward to a complete reread once the last issue comes out! Its a story that just speaks to me, especiallty in this stage of my life. |
