Thanks Marcus for the hair dye suggestion. Don't think Pete's got an allergic reaction to Hazelnut shine with almond extract. No time to have his highlights touched up, wash & blow I'm afraid. Too busy. But I've just had a thought. Where Bond had Pussy Galore, Pete's got Pus Onthefloor. 🤢

Hi Marcus. Such a funny strip. Tom Thug meets his match in this strip and gets his just deserts when the sister of the bullied turns the table and  offers him a knuckle sandwich, and do you want a large diet coke & fries with those teeth? Another humour  masterclass from the wizard of wit Lew Stringer. 😎🤘

Tom Thug must have resonated with fans with 5 years worth of strips!  Nice jump from the panel into the bushes!

Hi Marcus. I know quite a few well-loved comics that merged in the late 1980s or just became defunct sadly.  And I could be wrong , don't quote he, but the only Oink "Tom Thug" page that I own pre-Buster is the computer magazine issue that cahr with a free Oink comic pullout. Wonder if he has any other pages in his archive. Shall ask him.

Some of the panels in this Halloween page cracks me up. Tom Thug's pleased with himself reaction and mouth full of sweets always gets me. Lew Stringer had the knack of capturing facial expressions so well. 😅

Baggy clothes were a big thing in the early 90's!  So were the pants that were too big and hung low behind so people can check out the brand on the elastic band of your underwear.

Hi Marcus. Yeah the Tom Thug strip reflected society and its fashions. I've often had sleepless nights pondering this very same question. Either clothes were big or the people small, or both. I know haircuts were massive. So much hairspray too. No wonder the Ozone had a hole in it. And don't talk about lipgloss used. Can you imagine if women did similar? 😲

Hi again Marcus. Yeah, it's superb. No wonder in the first panel Tom Thug wants it to rain so he can go inside to play on the slot & arcade machines. Crafty little fart.  Funnily enough , when I was in my youth , think I was around 35 at the time , whenever I went to my local funfair would always gravitate to the fruit machines hoping to win riches beyond my wildest dreams. Never did though. I'd enter with a cocky swagger, a skip in my step,  pocket full of pennies, only to leave with a sullen expression, empty pockets and a bellyful of regret. 🙂

Hi Marcus. Yeah, I thought that too. Loston caught the essence of Carl Kolchak perfectly. That's why I bought it. And now you mention it. The glass he's holding does remind me of something that came as part of a decanter set. Can't imagine Kolchak after battling vampires & ghoulies in his spare time sitting in front of a log fire sipping  brandy wearing a deerstalker hat and smoking a pipe. Then again, I can. 🥃😋 (Burp)

Good observation Marcus. What a guy!  Now thinking about it, the two-tone snowy sky, which looks gorgeous by the way Lew, does remind me of the transition between dusk & dawn. And I supose you can intepret it also as the passing of an old year and its rebirth. Man, my head hurts. To be a guru is a burden sometimes, as you know.  We are truly remarkable. : )

Hi Marcus. Gotta stop meeting like this. The neighbours are starting to talk, lol. 😅

Yeah, this is my very first proper page of Pete's Pimple comic art. As you know, already got a wonderful sketch done as a gift by Mr Stringer  but I never thought I'd secure this little minx.  Was very fortunate as it's pretty rare. And boy was it difficult to locate the comic too. Didn't realise the art was done for a magazine and the comic was a free pull-out inside and not for sale.

Love how Pete's Pimple becomes a puss projectile that bounces around like a heatseeking zit with its intended target being the bullies. Karma. Dr Lee aka pimple popper would have a fit at this big bouncing baby of joy.   👀

Hi Marcus. Thanks friend  for the comment as always. Only had delivery of this today. Nice isn't it.

Yeah, Stringer did use a very similar colour scheme to the others pages recently uploaded. An explanation could be that he thought those dominant colours made the page pop, or he accidentally left his markers at home and decided. "Hey, what the heck. Live and let live. The pub's open at 6pm. Mines a Shandy mixer and a pork pie barman." 😀🍻

Personally, I love the horse's expression. Poor bugger. He's one trot short of a can of cat food and he or she's got more teeth than the entire Osmond family, lol. 😁 🐎

Yeah, the strip is hilarious.  And I don't know what's funnier. The idea Supermum has the ability to bend lamp posts & buses or name for the TV mindbender Uri Wriggler lol. Ah, yes. The old jokes are the best. It's either innuendo or upuendo. Either way it's an eye opener.

Who would think a character with a huge septic pimple on their nose would be so inviting to readers,  where we see them in each story trying to burst it. Think Dr Pimple Popper aka Sandra Lee would love this one. 😀

The way Lew Stringer has drawn the page is so crisp, and the characters expressions hilarious, especially the top-right panel where Tom Thug on his pursuit to be the first pupil out of school at home time  sticks his fingers up the nose of one of the wimps cracks me up lol. 😃

Hi Marcus. Personally speaking ,  I wouldn't know where to start. It's one thing being a great artist, another able to fit the story onto a page without making the fatal error of drawing the panels too big or  small not realising you can't fit the story ending on the page. I suppose Lew Stringer alternating the panels shape & size is akin improvisation. Why be square when you can rock some squiggly lines. ✍️😎🎨

Hi Marcus. Yeah, it was a sad loss when he passed. A few years back had the oportunity to buy multple scripts, in particular this one with the doodle on, including others signed by him and the main cast members.

At my last count think I have around 10 or 12 Red Dwarf production-used scripts including some signed books, audience tickets, and even a cast signed director's chair back. Never seen one of those before. Pretty cool too.

I find today most of the effects used on Red Dwarf are CGI. And although it's great to see it's not the same as an actual model.

I'd love to own a real Starbug prop, but they are way too expensive. Although I do have the next best thing. The electronic playset model with mini figures. Happy me , happy wallet..

Fun time period as many official fanzines became popular in the early 90's.  The comics were always a standout because they had continuity, while articles and interviews came and went.  I would imagine this would be the same for Red Dwarf which we would have seen in the States a lot later on local PBS stations.

Yeah, love the Smegazine. Its got some cool covers and stories. Been fortunate myself  to source some nice pages over the past few years too. I can recall religiously buying the mag when first out in the early 90s. Oddly enough, at the time I purchased  two copies of each , one to collect, the another to read.

And talking about the series.  Wasn't the US version of Red Dwarf axed and the pilot never shown? Pity really..
