Thank you for your comment and the kind words. I 100% agree. Such a great show. I wish they had done some more seasons. Some day I hope to recreate this piece or something similar in ink. I think Kolchak could meet all of Marvel's monsters. ;-) ![]() You're welcome friend. Wish I had your talent. And yeah, totally agree. Love the series including the two movies. But if there were to be any remake of the show today hope that they would keep faithful to the original character & series format rather than mess around as done with the reboot done a few years back. I think either Tommy Lee Jones or Brian Cranston would be great at playing Karl Kolchack. Both are exceptional straight & comedy actors And set it in the 1970s rather than today. 🙂 |

What a treasure! I'm a sucker for most horror anthologies, but this is one of my favourites. Amazing. I wonder where the finished piece now resides. ![]() Thanks again Adam for the comment left. As first mentioned in my initial reply to your comment before I updated my message today to included further information, and for the benefit of new viewers to this page, was told by John's wife & business manger Liliana that the finished peice was sold to a very lucky collector in America. And since my first reply to you, now own eight John Bolton Monster Club pages on board that first appeared first in the very rare 1980 Monster Club promo magazine (uploaded on my page for all to see) that was produced to promote the film at the Cannes film festival to would-be investors, which later appeared in the classic 1983 Hammer Halls of Horror magazine which info you are no doubt already familiar with. Also since then, have also sourced since the actual Monster Genealogy Chart preliminary art done for the 1981 Monster Club film. And I even have John Bolton's personally owned Monster Club film script given to him by the makers of the movie that was gifted to me, including his multi-signed slipcase book limited to 26 copies in the world called: 'Gaslight, Ghosts and Ghouls. A Centenary Celebration R. Chetwynd-Hayes' that was given to him by the publishers which is now out of print. |

Fantastic, , ,Luv the Seventies-Soaked Mad-Style Art!! Gr8 Grab!! ![]() Cheers friend. Yeah, know what you mean with some of the characters similarity with Mad Magazine. Not wholly surprising though as Harry North did the art in both US & UK magazines. Think first in 1976 upto 2000, if my memory serves me.. But it took me ages to source the pages, and as difficult was the magazines. Hours trolling eBay and Look-in fan websites. Problem encountered was some pages don't have numbers or dates, so I had to do a bit of detective work which paid off. Nice to see them in print too. 😎 |

Show and comic are both unfamiliar to me, but I see the appeal. Good luck! ![]() The Allo Allo show was a BBC comedy series first shown in 1983 that followed residents of a small provincial French town occupied by a group of clueless Nazis. It's situation comedy on steroids.
The main character is Rene, owner of a cafe, whose stuck between running his establishment and foiling SS plots and winning the war. He's also a babe magnet and spends most time trying & failing to resist the amourous advances of the local women including one light-on-his feet German officer called Gruber who fancies him and wants to take him for a ride in his little tank. Funny as hell. If in the States might catch it on BBC America, can buy the series on DVD, or see some episodes on YouTube.

Nice cartooning and funny stuff by whoever it was. Hand-colored? ![]() Yes, I can confirm. All are hand coloured. Not sure what was used though? If it was a mixture of inks & water colours? Looks like both to me close up. Nicely done whatever medium used.
Anyway, I bought them because I'm a fan of the show. And to be honest never realised a comic strip was done or read the Fast Forward Magazine in its day.?. My next project is to find the magazines the art features in. Going to be difficult task and detective work is needed as some pages don't have any information stating what year & issue number to aid me in my quest.. Oh, well? Wish me luck. I'm going need it. |

The series that was adapted into Three's Company over on this side of the pond. If Robin's kick and reaction shows anything on this page, physical comedy and timing is a must for Jack Tripper. See you at the Regal Beagle. ![]() Three's Company. Ah, yes. Great series. Starref the late lamented John Ritter. Funny, watching that series in the early eighties , it never dawned on me that it was a US version of its British counterpart. As a kid I was'nt that forensic. I'd laugh if my butt was on fire. I know it was a highly susessful series too. 😎
What I like about this page is the visual comedy. Sure, the text can be hilarious when reading, but if you can make your eyes smile too is a thing to marvel at |

Gorgeous art here. Looks like a 1990s Saturday morning cartoon on paper! Congrats. ![]() Thanks friend. Yeah, brings back good memories of days long gone. When I sourced this page, and may I add it's huge, about 24x 16, honestly didn't realise there was art done for the classic BBC comedy series Allo Allo out there? See, the only memorabilia I had of Allo Allo at the time was series-used scripts, some theater posters etc... So when I saw it for sale, jumped at the chance to buy it, although ironically weeks later sourced another eight pages , all smaller, on thick artist paper. Shall take picks and upload them soon for all to see. 🙂 |

It'd be cool to see all the pages in photos this bright. It truly allows us to see how bright these colors have remained and how nice North's caricature work is in this collection. ![]() Funny you should mention that. Sweet layouts with a variety of panels to show the humor and light hearted nature of the story. The color work points to this as well. ![]() agree. The humour is brilliant. You can see why Harry North went onto do the Mad Magazine. Love the colours used too. Loads of purples in some giving the melancholy feeling.
What I gather is. Harry North was the only artist to do this strip, which is surprising really, as often magazines/comics utilised numerous artists, some even finishing a page started by another on occasions. But he did every page for the 'On The Buses' cartoon strip. Think I counted over 50 strips, could be wrong, that he did between 1971 & 1974. Always on the look out for more. 🙂
The pages vary in size too. Some are massive. The larger pages are drawn on 2ft art sheets, with some smaller strips done on art boards & paper. I did start framing them but soon realised the cost was skyrocketing, so bought myself an art folder, sent off to the States for acid-free poster sleeves, and found these perfect to protect all, especially the larger ones

Superb Monster Club pages, I'm so surprised John still had to them. I was fortunate enough to be inter to see his studio,?back when I bought an Army of Darkness page. Sadly, I no longer have the art, but I do still have the memory of that fantastic day, both John and Liliana were lovely, as you say. Well done on getting these ![]() Cheers David. Great to hear you actually visted John Bolton's studio. Yeah, I was so lucky to buy the eight that I own, especially the fourteen preliminary/concept art for the Monster Club Genealogy Chart. I was even offered the chance to buy his cover & sepia art, but it was not possible sadly. What nice people they were. John signed my art when asked and John & Liliana kindly provided COA for all the pages too. Both even gifted me signed books including John's actual script he was given by makers of the film. It was a pleasure dealing them over the weeks and months. Genuinely nice people. Also, sorry to hear you sold your Army of Darkness art. Bet it was superb too. Love to own some of his Evil Dead & Alien art. Maybe one day. 🙂 |

Wow! That duplicitous scheme is just as evil as anything that's going to happen next! Every page is crafted with such care and dark dread! ![]() I adore that story in the film. The Shadmock. It's so tragic. He's got money and a mansion, but the thing he wants most in the world, doesn't want him. Bolton captures the scene brilliantly where we Angela ( Barbara Kellerman) struggling with her conscience after seeing all that money in the safe. |

Also, better still sourced last year one of Dez Skinn's signed & limited edition 1/100 Monster Club comics released via Facebook in 2018.
